This page will be undergoing a new, updated focus for AWD in Artistic Swimming. We will be shifting from primarily advocacy to primarily resources for AWD and Coaches in Artistic Swimming. This page and accompanying tabs/pages should be completed by DEC 2024. Included will be a login page for current USA AWD coaches. Thank you for your patience as we transition into the next chapter for AWDs globally.
" "Artistic Swimming SHOULD be a Paralympic Sport"....
Coach Claire
Lead Coach & AWD Rep.
Claire was a competitive Synchronized Swimmer with the Santa Clara Aquamaids for over 7 years. She was a member of the US National Team for 3 years and was the captain of the 2012 National Team, leading the team to Gold at the Pan American Championships in Cali, Colombia.
After beginning college at Carnegie Mellon University, she began coaching for Bay Area Synchro during the Summer of 2016. This is her way of giving back to the sport that she had fallen in love with. Claire likes to create a positive, energetic coaching environment and her goal is to help as many AWD’s to reach their goals and achieve their dreams.
In August 2016, Claire and several other Synchro AWD coaches traveled to Brazil to perform for members of the International Olympic/Paralympic Committee in efforts to make Artistic Swimming a sport in future Paralympic Games. She also helped demonstrate the AWD Program Levels in a video, in efforts to help several other countries who plan to adopt and follow this program to assist with coaching athletes with disabilities/special needs. In addition, Claire is involved with fundraising efforts for the Artistic Swim AWD Organization and loves sharing the grass roots movement with other people. Claire is a hard worker and has proven to be an asset to the Artistic Swim AWD Organization and to our hosted team, Bay Area Synchro~Artistic Swimming as the Lead Coach.
Claire is very dedicated to helping AWD’s achieve their dreams in the pool. She is very optimistic that Artistic Swimming will be in future Paralympic Games and that athletes with disabilities and special needs will finally get to share the World's stage with some of the biggest and best competitions for Artistic Swimming.
